To send an SMS (text) message to a phone, format the number similar to an email address. You do not need a leading 1.

The gateway is the name after the @ symbol. You need to know the SMS gateway of the receiver's phone. You can find the most common carriers and their gateways in the list below.

There is generally a limit of 160 characters, which often includes the phone number, a subject, and the message. Sending a long message may show up as 2-3 text messages or simply could be cut off, so it is best to send short messages.

All phone carriers have different requirements, which are subject to change. Test first!
